Optosem integrates annealing into our manufacturing process to ensure our Pre-molded Lead Frame and Molded Plastic Parts meet the high-quality standards required for semiconductor and other high-performance applications.

By doing so, we can offer products with enhanced durability, stability, and performance, critical for the demanding environments these parts often operate in.

Advantages

Benefit of the annealing process:

  1. Stress Relief – During molding or forming, plastic parts can develop internal stresses due to rapid cooling, uneven material flow, or uneven thickness. Annealing helps relieve these stresses, reducing the risk of warping, cracking, or other deformations.
  2. Improved Dimensional Stability – Annealing helps stabilize the dimensions of plastic parts, making them more reliable in applications where precise measurements are critical. This is essential for components that must maintain tight tolerances over time.
  3. Enhanced Mechanical Properties – The annealing process can improve the toughness and flexibility of the plastic, making it less brittle and more resistant to impact and fatigue. This is particularly important for parts exposed to repeated mechanical loads.

The annealing process typically involves heating the plastic parts to a specific temperature below their melting point and holding them at this temperature for a set period. The temperature and duration depend on the type of plastic and the desired properties. After the heat treatment, the parts are slowly cooled to room temperature to avoid reintroducing stress.
