What is Insert-Molding?

Insert molding is a process where plastic is injected around a pre-placed metal or plastic insert within the mold cavity. The insert may be as simple as a thread or rod, or as complex as a battery or motor. This technique creates a strong bond between materials, producing components that meet demanding specifications for strength, durability, and functionality.

Optosem's molding expertise extends beyond insert molding to include high-tensile strength plastics such as PAI, Ultem, PEEK, PPS, and Nylon, as well as micro-injection molding. Our commitment to innovation and quality enables us to supply industry-leading insert and over-molded components to customers around the world.

Speed and Competitive Pricing

Our process eliminates the need for post-production assembly, reducing production time and costs, and enabling shorter production cycles.

Enhanced Durability

Insert molding creates a strong bond between materials, resulting in superior impact resistance and longer shelf life. Metal inserts also add reinforcement, reducing wear and tear and increasing overall part longevity.

Reduced Weight

By combining different materials, insert molding allows for a lighter overall product, achieving the required functionality and strength with reduced weight.
